Two Way Mirrors: Translation To and From
Translation is the bridge through which Arabic literature crosses into the world, and the gateway through which global literature and ideas enter Arabic. Yet both directions face ongoing challenges: from the shortage of specialized translators, to limited institutional support, and the restricted visibility of translated works. In this session, publishers and translators come together to explore the current state of translation: why so little Arabic literature reaches audiences abroad, and why so much of world literature remains distant from Arab readers’ shelves.
